Text Box: Nintendo released the Wii in 2006. The most interesting aspect of this system is the wireless remote that succeeds the traditional wired controllers. The remote detects motions and games like tennis are played by actually swinging the remote like a racket instead of  only pressing buttons. Nintendo once again places quality in a compact compartment,  the Wii being the lightest and smallest game console  developed by Nintendo

Text Box: 2006 saw the release of  the highly anticipated Playstation 3. The progression of its graphics and audio provide almost a life like experience to gaming. Developers have also promised an artificial intelligence like no other. The PS3 was designed to be used in conjunction with High-Definition Televisions, truly boosting the output  capabilities of this powerful machine. This system was also able to play games from the older Playstaion 1 and 2 systems. Unlike PS2 this system has rich graphical user interface which allows users to navigate and manage files on a hard drive.

Text Box: Released in 2004 Grand theft Auto: San Andreas quickly became the  Playstaion 2's top selling game. The perks of this game is the highly interactive environment;  anything could be filled with bullets or destroyed. This game also featured a vast environment to explore and trash, frankly speaking the whole of San Andreas was your playing field.

Text Box: 2005 was the year Microsoft named its successor to the XBOX, the XBOX 360. It's processing core now a sophisticated Pentium chip and graphic accelerator card, truly resembling a personal computer. Complete with its own (optional)  20GB hard drive. XBOX  360 delivers unreal graphics and sounds rivaling that of a cinematic experience.

Text Box: Microsoft made its debut in the console industry releasing the XBOX. XBOX used DVD disks as a primary medium and also deliver splendid acoustic and visual performance. XBOX live an multiplayer network allowing XBOX users to compete over the internet. It was also the first system to house a hard drive to save game progress.

 
 
Text Box: In 2000, Sony released the Playstation 2, this 128-bit system used DVD's to run games which allowed games to be more more vast  and rich as it ever could before. What  was once considered 3-D cinematics was now common game play visuals. Synthesized audio would be replaced with real instrumental and vocal audio. System also supported online gaming.
Text Box: 1998 was the year that Sega released it's 128-bit gaming console. Known as the Sega Dreamcast it was technologically superior to both of  Playstaion and N64. The Dream cast used Giga-Disks to hold its games and software where storage capacity was 700 Megabytes now 1.3 Gigabytes.

Text Box: 1997 also saw the release of Final Fantasy VII, noted as one of the greatest games of all time. The playability, plot, rich environment and full motion videos all contributed to its success. The game spanned three disks and there were a variety of game plays like firs person, side scrolling, and third person over view that was the main style of the entire game. The game encompassed a  whole globe which players could explore as well, emphasizing the vastness of the game.

Text Box: 2001 would be the year that Nintendo released its next generation system. The Nintendo Gamecube used physically smaller disks known as Game Disks. The system was compact and affordable but still proved a worthy adversary to other next generation systems.

                                                                                                        

 

 

Text Box: XBOX's best-selling game was HALO. A first person shooter that allowed players to roam in huge richly rendered environments. Another key feature was that the game could  be played online via XBOX Live.

Text Box: 1996  was the year Nintendo released its 64-bit Gaming system, known as the N64. The system excelled at rending 3-D graphics and ran off cartridge games.

Text Box: In the same year, a soon to be gaming giant would make its debut. The Sony Playstation housed 32-bit graphics, a memory card bay for saving progress and a Dual Analog Controller. It also used compact disks to run games.

Text Box: 1995 Sega Saturn makes its' debut. Saturn one of the few 32-bit gaming system was released. This system was fully capable of rendering 3-D graphics and was the first to use compact disks to store games. The First of many companies that would move away from cartridge gaming.
Text Box: 1991 would see the debut of Sega's most memorable mascot. Sonic  the Hedgehog; boasted  quality graphics with a large palette of colors as well as rich sounds, the game play was also very unique in that it allowed users to play at high speeds and altitudes.

Text Box: Released 1993. Star Fox one of the very few games on the Super Nintendo that was able to render 3-D polygon graphics making it one of the first 3-D games in the 16-bit  gaming era. The came also came with a coprocessor to aid in graphics acceleration, which was dubbed "SuperFX"

Text Box: 1990 Would be the year that Nintendo released it's own 16-bit system The Super Nintendo. With huge improvements over its predecessor in all visual and audio facets. The first near 3-D polygon games could also be supported by Nintendo and the system would gain international success.

 
Text Box: 1988 the 16-bit gaming era  begins with the release of the Sega Genesis; substantial graphic and audio improvements are housed within this system.

Text Box: That year also saw the release of one of the most memorable video games Nintendo has ever released. Super Mario Bros., this game incorporated seam-less environment scrolling that help make this game so popular and entertaining.

Text Box: 1985 Nintendo releases the Nintendo Entertainment System and effectively revitalizes the gaming industry. This system is one of the first few 8-bit gaming systems and cartridge based games, would prove to be enormously popular and successful.
Text Box: In 1984 the growing gaming industry met staggering economic conditions that caused what is now known as the Video Game Crash of 1984. Many companies in the video gaming industry  went bankrupt due to many failures in coming up with new quality games.
